It looks like they’re actually getting closer to getting a sequel happen of the 1988 fantasy film Beetlejuice. Michael Keaton recently provided a status update on his involvement during an interview with Rolling Stone and makes it very clear Tim Burton’s involvement is required to get him back into the role of Beetlejuice.
‘I’ve emailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times but all really, really preliminary stuff until relatively recently. I always said that Beetlejuice is the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another. Now it looks like he is involved. And without giving too much away, we’ve talked to each other, and emailed each other, and if he’s in, it’s going to be hard not to be in.’
Even though it’s not completely sure this will actually happen, rumor has it that Winona Ryder also has been approached about the movie. Apparantly she shares the same opinion as Michael.
‘I would never go near a sequel if it was not Tim and Michael. Because those guys, I love.’
Let’s now just hope it’ll happen.
